I came prepared. Having read previous comments about the great impenetrable wall of gorse, I brought a secateurs and a pair of tough gardening gloves. Neither were needed.

We followed the route described in previous comments. The gate is in poor condition, so it's inadvisable to try to climb it as the bars may not bear your weight. Untie the rope and walk through.

Walking across the field, we came to the formerly impenetrable line of gorse, which is now much reduced. We stepped over the fence into the summit area, which is quite agreeable. The summit trig point stands in a square grassy area, bounded on three sides by trees. While the trees block the view of the lake from the summit itself, they create a feeling of seclusion as well as shelter from the wind.
